About Mark Sauder

I was born and raised in northern Indiana. My parents were loving Christians, extremely active living out their faith in all aspects of their lives. When I was eight years old my aunt died suddenly. This was the first time I faced the reality of death. God used this event to touch my heart. The evening we returned to our home from the funeral, I knelt beside my bed and prayed to Jesus. I asked Him to forgive me and I placed my trust in Jesus as my Savior and Lord. When I was fourteen years old, my sister died suddenly from a blood clot that went to her brain. This forever impacted my perspective on life, my world view, and has shaped who I am even to this day. It was through this great loss that I once again turned toward God. I recommitted my life to Him and was baptized.

Throughout my time at college I was active in various campus ministries, including leading Bible studies in my dorm. When I moved to Arizona in 1982, I became an active member of Whitton Avenue Bible Church until 2001. During my time at Whitton, I served in various capacities including Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and lay pastor. Our family has attended Desert Springs Bible Church since 2001. During our time at DSBC, I have served as an elder, helped with the youth ministry, and participated in missional communities both as a member and a leader.

I graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1982. I have held various accounting and finance positions over the last 35 years. I currently serve as president of a group of insurance companies based in Arizona.

I met my wonderful wife Carol at a church camp, and we were married in 1988. We have been blessed with two children. Our son Stephen is currently attending NAU studying mechanical engineering. Our daughter Courtney is graduating from Scottsdale Christian Academy this May and is serving as a junior high youth leader for DSBC.
