About David Osborn

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Phoenix and have lived in North Phoenix for most of my life. At 21, I married my first wife, and together we have three grown children and three grandchildren, all of whom live nearby. Shortly after we married, I began working in the restaurant business with her family, and I spent over 40 years in the industry.

My faith journey began at the age of six when I was baptized into the Lutheran Church. While I don’t have a specific “Moment of Salvation” testimony like some, I believe that was the beginning of my walk with God. I’ve always felt a connection to Him, and as I grew older, my faith deepened. At 12, I publicly professed my faith in Jesus at a Billy Graham Crusade, and at 14, I was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Despite growing up in a somewhat dysfunctional family, it was my faith that carried me through many difficult times.

My father was a white-collar professional, but my mother struggled with alcohol and prescription drug abuse. In my teenage years, I began to experience depression and drifted away from the church. After high school, I left home and embraced the hippie lifestyle—experimenting with drugs, drinking heavily, and exploring New Age spirituality. Later, as I started my own family, I tried repeatedly to change my life on my own but found it impossible. Around the age of 30, I recommitted my life to Jesus, began attending church again, and sought help from a Christian counselor. This marked the beginning of a profound spiritual transformation, and I became a new creation in Christ.

Throughout my life, I have seen God’s hand at work in countless ways, and trusting in Him has continually led to spiritual growth and transformation.

After attending Desert Springs occasionally while at other churches, my wife Phyllis and I have been attending regularly for over two years. I have had the privilege of serving on the Prayer Team, Care Team, Leadership Team, and Stevens Ministries. Now, God is calling me to use these experiences and gifts to serve in this community and ministry. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Council of Servant Leaders.
